So as you know, here at BetaCuts, we create cool custom t-shirts with your designs.  We can take your design and put it on a shirt, whether it’s one or one hundred.

An idea that has floated around for a while, in relation to the local hockey team, we took it upon ourselves to come up with some catchy designs that would be good to wear year-round and support the playoff drive.  A few designs were created, clean and simple.  A play on pop culture, representing some previous works out there (think The Beatles).

It was decided that a website should be made to sell these.  This brought about YYC HOCKEY TEES and a new child was born.

Turn the page.  Another local designer friend of ours over at Como Designs made a small mention on a local forum about the shirts.  A random phone call via the voice of Roger Millions of Sportsnet later came through.  You may know him as the fellow who does commentary between game periods at the Flames games.   He wanted to ask a few questions about the shirts and learn more – the next thing you know, I am being interviewed in my backyard for footage to be both used on Breakfast TV, Sportsnet and subsequently used on web & radio with 660 NEWS.

Many shirts were made and a few days later I also graced the second page of the Calgary Herald, titled “Flames fever showing signs of growing more intense.”

Again, many more shirts were sold due to the impact publicity and the name of BetaCuts getting out in the mainstream.  I’d like to thank Roger and Val for their media interest and giving the “small fish” a day in the spotlight.
