BetaCuts has proudly supported J.C. Bourgeois through his second full season in his 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Teamed up with new co-driver Matt Vincent, as well, a few new sponsors to help along the way, there’s a solid horizon ahead for Team Neverlift
With a race-pack of 25 cars, J.C. set out to ensure a finish, but push the envelope to see where his skills were at, up against some of the best that Canada has to offer. As the stages went on, J.C. found himself finishing each stage between 5th and 10th place, but was penalized 10 minutes at the start of the 2nd day for speeding on a transit section. I guess that instilled something into him, as he was pushing hard enough to make 4th place times for the next three stages. That put him behind Antoine L’Estage (Mitsubishi), Pat Richard (Subaru) and Leo Urlichich, the top 3 contenders for the rally win. Unfortunately to put further damper on the overall finish, the team suffered a clutch failure, which inevitably resulted in a “retirement” in the race.
There are always good and bad feelings felt after experiencing a result like this. To keep things positive, I’d like to give kudos to J.C. and Matt for keeping in contention with these fellows.
Thank you to Peter MacDonald for capturing these great photos.
